

Solomon Evans Turpin, Jr: Compatriot Turpin was born on December 19, 1934, Bastrop, Louisiana and passed on March 20, 2020, in Iraan, TX. He was one of the charter members of the Iraan Archeological Society which was founded in 1964. He was a member of the Texas Archeological Society for 32 years. He was a member and steward of the Texas Historical Commission and won the Norman G Flaigg Award in 2013 and 2015 for outstanding performance. He joined the Judge Roy Bean Camp in its first year and became an invaluable member with his vast knowledge and love of local history. Evans is deeply missed within our Camp.


Michael E. Cooper: Compatriot Cooper in October 25, 1949 in Kermit, TX. Mike graduated from Iraan High School in 1968 and helped his community by building the Ag Barn, benches at the Golf Course and many other projects. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas, Marathon Oil and DCP Midstream. Mike was a volunteer firefighter for 11 years and served as Fire Chief for Sheffield Volunteer Fire Department and EMS. His love of history turned him towards living history events throughout Texas and New Mexico. Mike was a charter member of the Judge Roy Bean Camp and served as Color Sergeant. He will be missed.
